Who are the most extraordinary leaders you know, either by personal relationship or reputation? What makes them different and more capable than other leaders? Going forward, we’d like to engage you in this conversation while Dean writes his upcoming book and expands the focus of our blog.
You’ve likely seen the movie, Field of Dreams. Remember the statement, “Build it and they will come?”
Well, we’ve been building “it” for forty years. It’s been a labor of love, a passion, an act of faith, and a full-time commitment. The It? A System of Transformation for achieving breakthrough in business results, organizational performance, culture, leadership, and workforce performance.
For the past 18 months, Linda and the Being First Team have been blogging about an aspect of the System – how to lead transformation successfully. Our blogging will continue down that path, but also expand to a larger frame of how leaders can identify and achieve the breakthroughs needed in themselves, their leaders, culture, organizational systems and processes, and workforce to realize a compelling and extraordinary vision.
This expanded blog focus is in conjunction with a new book I am writing, currently called, “Breakthrough: How Leaders Achieve Extraordinary Results.”
As part of the book writing, we are interviewing visionary and transformational leaders who are taking cutting edge, innovative approaches to solving their organizations and the society’s most complex challenges. Do you know of such leaders, either personally or by reputation?
We are looking to interview non-traditional leaders, those who think and act differently, who see the limitations of mainstream approaches and are experimenting successfully with post-conventional methods. These leaders tend to be more self-aware and awake than others. They lead co-creatively, seek perspectives other than their own, and listen to and engage stakeholders early in the effort. They embrace change, seek their own personal development, and are lifelong learners. They embrace uncertainty, are able to say, “I don’t know,” and navigate complexity where other leaders would flounder in their over-reliance on old methods. Fundamentally, they see a possibility far beyond what others can conceive, and have the courage to pursue it, knowing they’ll be learning how to achieve it along the way. They are pioneers by nature, and have shed the shackles of mainstream thinking.
Are you such a visionary and transformational leader? Then please nominate yourself. Do you know such leaders?
Our blogging going forward will parallel the thinking in this new book. We hope you will engage with us in it, comment on what you read, and together, let’s deepen our collective understanding about what it takes to Achieve Breakthrough. The world needs this from us.
